The Jean Haggerty Award for Community Service recognizes individuals, groups, and organizations who believe in and demonstrate the importance of community engagement to obtain social change.
The award is named in honor of a beloved former Amherst Media board member and program producer, Jean Haggerty, who was also a well-known community activist, advocating for free speech and social justice. This award is in honor of Jean's lifetime dedication to community betterment and advocacy towards free speech for those without a voice.
Each year, the Board of Directors votes on a recipient who is then awarded during the Annual Meeting.
