We were pleased to have State Representative Ellen Story join us to present the 2014 Jean Haggerty Award to Judy Brooks for her outstanding community service. Judy Brooks has been named this year’s Jean Haggerty Award winner. The award will be presented at Amherst Media's 39th Annual Meeting which will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd at 6:30pm. The event is open to the public. Five years ago the Board of Directors established the Jean Haggerty Award. Jean has been a producer and board member of ACTV and overall community activist for a long time in Amherst. This award is in honor of Jean’s lifetime dedication to community betterment and advocacy towards free speech for those without a voice.
Amherst Media has announced the winner of the fourth annual Jean Haggerty Award in honor of a former Amherst Community Television producer, board member, and community activist. Amherst Media has established this award for community engagement and social change. This award is in honor of Jean's lifetime dedication to community betterment and concern for those who have been denied an opportunity to be heard. Previous awardees have been: Isaac Ben Ezra, Cynthia Brubaker and Ed Severance.
Amherst Media Board of Directors President John Bruner presented Cynthia Brubaker with the Second Annual Jean Haggerty Award for Community Engagement and Social Change on Monday, December 19, 2011. Cynthia is a former Amherst Media Board member, a member of the Amherst League of Women Voters and has hosted numerous Amherst Media programs, most notably "Amherst...Neighbor to Neighbor," which shines a spotlight on various Amherst residents.
