Congratulations to the winners of our Community Cash Raffle

Amherst Media congratulates the three (3) winners of our Community Cash Raffle as well as extends warm thanks and appreciation to all who contributed to this fundraising event. The Community Cash Raffle was a success, with staff and Board members alike, enjoying opportunities to engage the community at large about the dynamic changes occurring at Amherst Media. Proceeds from the raffle help to ensure the ongoing sustainability and enhancement of Amherst Media, your community media center.
Congratulations to . . . .
Garry Longe of Colrain Massachusetts, who held the winning ticket for the first place prize of $2,000. Garry is an active supporter of community media, employed by Greenfield Community College as an Instructional Media Specialist within the Educational Technology Center. A genuine advocate for the use and impact of public media to enhance community engagement and further social justice, Garry and his wife Karen Truehart, graciously donated one-half of their winnings back to the availability of ongoing resources at Amherst Media.
Jim Pistrang of Amherst Massachusetts, an active neighbor in all things community and political, as well as an ultimate Frisbee enthusiast, returned from vacation to learn that he was the winner of our second place prize of $1,000. Not a bad thing to come home to.
Magaly Cardona of Ridgewood New York, an independent bookkeeper in NYC was the third place prize winner of $500. When not working, Magaly can be found performing as a stand-up comic and local activist. She is an avid fan of Teatro Vida and watches their series via Amherst Media's website.
Many thanks go out to Garry, Jim, Magaly, and all who contributed in one way or another, for demonstrating belief in the power of public media, discourse and engagement as vital to ongoing and enhanced democracy.
