By Jim Lescault, Executive Director Reading the public notice of the recent death of Benny “Motown Man ” Johnson put me into adeep pause, reflecting on my many wonderful interactions with Benny here at the AmherstMedia studio. Most people came to know Benny from his delightful renditions of Motown hits on the streets ofAmherst and the surrounding towns. Some called him Benny the Bucket-man, due to himkeeping rhythm for himself with an empty joint compound bucket.

Tomorrow evening! Amherst Media invites you to the Massachusetts premiere showing of our video documentary, A House Built by Hope: A Story of Compassion, Resilience, and Religious Freedom. This 35 minute video will be followed by a panel discussion. Panelists include, Jim Wald, Hampshire College History Professor; Simon Leutz, Department Chair, Social Studies, Amherst Pelham Regional High School; and Dr. Elsie Fetterman, former Danielson resident and member of the Temple Beth Israel Preservation Society.

Amherst Media will present the Jean Haggerty Award for community service at their 45th Annual Meeting held remotely Wednesday, October 28th, at 7:00 pm to Dr. Elsie Fetterman. As a founding board member of Temple Beth Israel Preservation Society (TBIPS), of Danielson, CT, and a former employee of UMASS, Fetterman has worked tirelessly to uplift and educate others.
