Wednesday, October 19, 2011, the first annual Cannabis Colloquium was held in the Student Union at UMass Amherst. Booth after booth filled the ballroom addressing information on the use of cannabis and legalization efforts. Amherst Media spoke to a few people behind these aims.

The Amherst Area Chamber of Commerce recently held its annual A+ Awards Dinner. Amherst Media was honored to be present at the event as a nominee for the 2011 Legacy Award. The event was wonderful and a great time was had by all. Amherst Media was asked to film short videos of the five award recipients this year. Below are the videos highlighting each recipient.

On October 14, 2011, Mass Access held their Autumn 2011 Mini-Conference on Broadband at Amherst Media. Mass Access develops educational workshops, throughout the state on many topics. MassAccess has been educating the public and its members since 1997. Educational workshop topics include cable refranchising, copyright issues, community access startups, production workshops, and ask the lawyers sessions. Among the presenters at the conference was Judith Dumont, Director of the Mass Broadband Institute. Other presenters included:

As the New England fall season speeds along we quickly find ourselves heading into another Amherst Media Annual Meeting, at the station, 246 College St, Thursday, 6:00PM, October 20, 2011. We have the returns from our last mailing asking for nominations for the two member-elected board seats, with the elections to be held at the Annual meeting. We are glad to announce our current Board of Director's President John Bruner is running for his second term as well as newcomers Susan Seigel and Bruce Smith. Amherst Media will be hosting a public forum on Amherst's refuse situation, here at 246 College Street, on Wednesday, October 19 at 7pm. The forum will include topics such as a review of our trash and recycling structure, a review of identified options, and a question and answer period. Come on down to the station on October 19 at 7 pm to get involved!
