Amherst Media’s dedicated and talented staff, Faith Gregory and Jeff Mastroianni deserve special thanks and recognition for how they have responded to the current Covid-19 emergency, by providing essential services to the Amherst community. Between March 20 and April 30, 2020, there has been 30 work days. During that period, they have posted and scheduled for cablecasting 23 government shows, 16 of which were broadcast live. The other 7, Town of Amherst Community Chats, were recorded Zoom meetings given to us for cablecasting, often up on cable and YouTube on the same day.

Pioneer Valley Planning Commission’s historic preservation planner Shannon Walsh has rejected Harmsway LLC’s appeal to reverse the Emily Dickinson Local Historic District’s decision to award Amherst Media a certificate of appropriateness.  The detailed report refuted each of the abutters objections and supported the exhaustive efforts of the applicant to meet the recommendations of the Local Historic District Commission.

By Scott Merzbach AMHERST — A town committee’s decision in favor of allowing the headquarters for Amherst Media to be built on two Main Street parcels is being upheld by a Pioneer Valley Planning Commission representative. In a review completed by Shannon Walsh, historic preservation planner for the PVPC, the Local Historic District Commission’s approval of a certificate of appropriateness for the project in January is deemed to not to be in error.

Four candidates are running for the School Committee seat recently left by Eric Nakajima.  The Amherst Town Council and School Committee will be voting in a virtual joint special meeting on April 14 at 6 p.m. If the vote is unable to proceed due to technical errors or otherwise, the vote will be continued to April 16 at 6 p.m., reports Scott Merzbach of the Daily Hampshire Gazette.

At Monday's Local Historic District Commission meeting (watch full meeting here), Amherst Media passed a threshold in obtaining a building permit to construct a new facility at the corner of Main and Gray Streets when the commission passed a certificate of appropriateness with conditions.
