The origin of the word casualty was a random event of no consequence; it was casual. On November 4, 2011 inside the lecture auditorium of the Herter Hall Annex the Massachusetts Review, literary journal of the five colleges, launched its Fall/Winter special issue titled casualty, though the events described in this issue would be as far from casual and commonplace as a description of horror and evil can be.

On Saturday, November 5, 2011, Amherst Media attended the University of Massachusetts ñ Amherst Marching Band ceremony which was held to dedicate the brand new band building in memory of George Parks.

Until further notice, the Grace Christian Fellowship service, which usually airs at 9:15 pm on Sundays, will be airing at 7:45 pm beginning on November 13, 2011. The Immanuel Lutheran services will no longer air during that time. All other services will continue to air at their regularly scheduled times.

Pat Aufderheide, American University Professor and author of several books on Fair Use and copyright laws, recently visited Amherst Media for a taping of "Key News" to talk about Fair Use laws with Jim Lescault and UMass Professor Martha Fuentes-Bautista.
