The cold weather seemed to have little effect on the students residing in their own tent city in the middle of the University of Massachusetts ñ Amherst campus. In fact, spirits seemed high as I walked through the grass photographing various signs and tent homes. As I approached the information booth, I caught onto an informative speech by one of the occupiers. A group of students huddled under the information tent were happy to give me some flyers about their mission, the progress of the movement, and upcoming events.

Bezanson Recital Hall slowly filled Sunday November 20, 2011; mostly students, with a smattering of families from the area. They had all come out to attend the Advanced Percussion Ensemble held by the College of Humanities and Fine Arts at the University of Massachusetts. The concert began with the song ìCross Hatchî by Toru Takemitsu with Andrew Smith on marimba and Ian Wudyka on vibraphone. The song was a melodic and quite quiet way with both Andrew and Ian playing off each other nicely.

This Friday and Saturday (18th & 19th) we're hosting the Fourth Annual Amherst Rotary Auction, but you can get an early peak at the items and sign up and bid online now. Here's why your bids help: "Each year as a core component of it's fundraising effort, the Rotary Club runs a multimedia auction involving the entire community. Local businesses donate their products, local celebrities host the TV auction, and the proceeds are returned to the community through our charitable grants to agencies doing good throughout our area." Happy Bidding

The Lincoln Campus Center Reading Room slowly filled with people on November 9, 2011. The bare concrete room had all makings of an event here at the University of Massachusetts: chairs set up in audience formation, old chipped folding tables lined the back filled with coffee and baked goods. In front two of these same tables came together with a University podium resplendent with the school seal in the middle.
