Media scholar Bill Yousman addresses critical issues in the representation of incarceration in the U.S.
In his research and writing, media scholar Bill Yousman focuses on media literacy education and the construction of racial ideologies in media images and narratives. His book, Prime Time Prisons on U.S. TV: Representation of Incarceration was published by Peter Lang in 2009. His second book, a critical exploration of the filmmaker Spike Lee, is scheduled for publication this coming year. He teaches at the University of Hartford, Suffolk University, Central Connecticut State University, the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, and Eastern Connecticut State University. He earned his doctorate in Communication from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
