Watch: Amherst Media Sponsored Town Charter Debate

Continuing its role in promoting honest and open Free Speech, Amherst Media sponsored a debate on current issues surrounding the proposed Town of Amherst Charter Change ballot question coming up for a town-wide vote March 27, 2018.

The debate was broadcast live on Tuesday, February 20th, and moderated by John Bonifaz, attorney and Amherst resident, and Bill Newman, WHMP host and civil rights attorney. Three local organizations representing various positions on the proposed charter were present. Speaking for the opposition groups were Michael Burkhart from Town Meeting Works and Maria Kopicki representing Not This Charter. For the proponent group Amherst For All, the representatives were Andy Churchill and Mandi Jo Hanneke.
