Raspberry Pi Home Theater Media Server

Just In Time For Christmas! Makers at Amherst Media and the Biology Computer Resource Center invite you join us on Friday, December 12 to build your own HOME THEATER MEDIA SERVER using Raspberry Pi. You will purchase your own parts (~$125), bring them to the workshop, and we will assemble them together! Be sure to order your parts early to have them in time for the workshop! Sign up today to reserve space in the workshop. Space is limited!

Raspberry Pi B+Your server will connect to your television with an HDMI cable and be able to display media in 1080p. The media streamed can be stored locally, but there are also many apps available to run within Raspbmc which stream content from services such as Netflix and Hulu across the Internet. The server can be controlled using a network based remote application available for iOS and Android. Or you can purchase additional hardware (see below) to control your server using a TV remote.

Sign up today to reserve space in the workshop. Space is limited!

The event will be held in the Biology Computer Resource Center (315 Morrill Science Center III) at UMass Amherst.

You will need to order parts yourself (links are provided to Newegg, but you can order from whomever you like) and bring them to the workshop:
